The Next LEAP for K-12 Education

LEAP Innovations and Next Generation Learning Challenges Unite to Accelerate Student-Centered Learning for the Age of AI

Guided by a shared vision for transforming learning in K-12 education, LEAP Innovations and Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) are joining together in order to expand our national impact and strengthen our ability to advance equitable student-centered learning at scale. This shared vision—that every student has what they need to fulfill their greatest potential and contribute to building a just, equitable, and sustainable world—is what the nation’s 55 million K-12 school students most need and deserve.

Together, LEAP and NGLC provide a coherent pathway for public education transformation, engaging students and educators as co-designers using human-centered, research-based practices to strengthen agency, deepen engagement, and personalize learning.

Since its launch in 2011, NGLC has helped the field define what equitable next generation learning is and why it matters; since its founding in 2014, LEAP has focused on helping schools translate that vision by co-designing, piloting, and scaling practices and experiences that strengthen teaching, personalize learning, and integrate emerging technologies. Building on a 10-year history of deep partnership, our newly united, high-capacity organization has put itself in the best possible position to lead meaningful and sustainable improvements in learner experiences and outcomes.

The arrival of generative AI has presented a once-in-a-generation catalyst to redesign K-12 education for equity, because of the implications it has on learning, work, life, and human connection. Thousands of communities across the nation are rethinking what schools should achieve for students in this 21st century, but many struggle with the complexity of transformation and the evolving technology and skills shaping learning. By uniting more than a decade of experience helping educators co-design student-centered learning, LEAP and NGLC are coming together at a pivotal moment for education. Together, we bring the expertise and resources needed to help more schools tackle complex challenges, from redefining student success and co-designing effective student-centered learning to shifting educator practice, integrating human-centered AI, and leading inclusive systems change.

We will do this by bringing together LEAP and NGLC’s robust networks of innovative educators, students, and their partners. A more interconnected network creates a stronger collective voice to advocate for and create the kinds of equitable learning experiences and outcomes that equip all learners to thrive in college, career and throughout their lives.

As LEAP and NGLC continue to engage our networks through current offerings, we are working to pool ideas and best practices to both improve those offerings and launch new initiatives. We are integrating NGLC and LEAP’s research, frameworks, and field-building, connecting influential ideas about student success and inclusive change strategies more directly to implementation with schools and districts.

We can’t wait to see what we can create together and we look forward to co-designing “The Next LEAP” with you.
